Mystery Herb
July 8, 2009
Week two of the CSA brought some of the usual suspects as well as Hakurei turnips. They are described as sweet but I wouldn't agree, at least for this batch. Nice in a salad.

I'll have to ask my wife if she recognizes it. IIRC most herbs have a "squared", woody stem (instead of a round cylinder). But Bette is the expert.
One vote for purslane via Facebook.
Well, it's not sage, oregano, basil, chives, chamomile, rosemary, parsley, lemon thyme, Russian sage, lavender, feverfew, st johns wort or anything else I've ever grown.
Leaves look too rounded to be savory (which I've never grown)
Purslane (which I've also never grown) looks to be a good choice: rounded leaves, round stems, pinkish stems, leaf configuration looks good, but it's a little hard to tell from the pictures.
Confirmation from the farm: it is purslane. They sent out another e-mail describing the plant and its uses. Must have had a lot of questions about it.
