Strange World
August 15, 2008
While it's a wonderful world (see the last post) it is also a wonderfully strange one. Here are a few examples.
Every hobby seems to have extreme aspects. Over on the If You're Just Joining Us, you can learn all about grown-ups playing with Legos. Granted, it isn't that strange, but I really like Jon Armstrong's podcast. Okay, you want strange? How about Roadside Attractions? You could go visit the Lunchbox Museum in Georgia, The Sign Museum in Ohio, The Cathedral of Junk down in Texas, or perhaps the Velvet Painting Museum in Oregon. If you'd prefer to stay home, check out Strange Maps. While the maps are real, the places they document require a little suspension of disbelief. Like Milo in The Phantom Tollbooth, one may open a map and see where the imagination leads. For something more permanent, check out these Literary Tattoos. Scrolling through all these, I'd say the top three authors quoted are Kurt Vonnegut, Sylvia Plath, and Dr. Seuss. Very strange. You want strange? How about a mere 6 entries coming into Round 5 for the Summer Reading Contest! If you're not Random Michelle or Anon (with 19 and 18 total entries as of this morning), this may be you're best chance to increase your odds of winning. Get that book read and posted!

Too busy cleaning, not getting reading (or writing) done.
There is still time for the grand prize.

Want to go?
Only if there's a velvet Elvis crying real tears.
